Welcome guide for international students (2021-2022)  What to do before and upon arrival, how to integrate into student life and have a successful academic year?

The Department of Modern Greek Studies has always collaborated with a wide range of institutions and the activities in this field are constantly expanding.

 

Activities and national cooperation

As an illustration, the Department :

  • participates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, in the organization and conduct of the baccalaureate examinations;
  • publishes the journal "Les études néo-helléniques dans les universités francophones"(“The Modern Greek Studies in the Francophone Universities”), a guide to Greek studies in the French-speaking world, containing information on study and research opportunities, departmental organization, teaching and academic staff, etc. ;
  • edits and publishes the proceedings of colloquia and seminars organized either by the Department or in cooperation with other Departments;
  • organizes seminars and a translation workshop in which a literary work from Modern Greek is selected, translated and published at the end of the academic year;
  • invites writers, literary critics and academics to give lectures and take part in seminars;
  • operates the Department's library, a collection of some 5,500 books and journals available to students and researchers;
  • cooperates with cultural associations promoting Greek culture (Cercle d'amitié franco-hellénique, Association Alsace-Crète, Association pour la promotion de la culture grecque à Strasbourg).

International cooperation

Within the framework of international cooperation, the Department :

  • participates in European research programs (DYLAN, NEOHEL);
  • participates in European exchange programs for both students and teachers, and offers several mobility opportunities with the help of the International Relations Department
  • cooperates with summer language and cultural programs organized by the Universities of Athens, Thessaloniki and Cyprus, and awards its students summer scholarships for linguistic and cultural stays in Greece

collaborates with the universities of Athens, Macedonia, Peloponnese, Thessaloniki,  
 Cyprus, Crete and Patras.
